Darkness to Light: Disappointment to Hope

The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,
And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death,
Upon them a Light dawned.

Matthew 4:16 NASB

I love this Christmas verse…it makes me think of Jesus the Son of God, the Light of my world … not just at Christmas, but every day of my life.

And this Christmas, the darkness could flood in for me. John and I have COVID during this most anticipated time of the year. All kinds of missed celebrations and holiday concerts and most of all, extended times with our “treasured ones.”

If I focus on the disappointment, I will go down into darkness every time. But if I focus on Jesus, the Light of my world, I stay stable, at peace and rest. And I can embrace my circumstances because my hope is in Him — Acceptance of “what is” because of Hope in WHO IS … Jesus, my Light, Who is I AM!

I read this great quote this morning on Twitter:

Hoping doesn’t mean we ignore reality. It means we acknowledge reality in the very same breath that we acknowledge God’s sovereignty — His absolute ability and power to work as He sees best. Lysa TerKuerst (12-22-2022)

Acceptance with Hope.
What about you, my friend?
Are you facing deep disappointment this Christmas … for whatever reason?
Don’t focus on the disappointment. It will take you down every time.

Combine acceptance of your reality with hope in your Almighty, sovereign God…the Light of YOUR world. Let Him be your Light TODAY.
