ADVENT (Week 2) -- Fullness of PEACE in Jesus

The people who walk in darkness
    will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness,
    a light will shine.
. . .
For a child is born to us,
    a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
    And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, PRINCE of PEACE.
His government and its PEACE will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
    for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
    will make this happen!
Isaiah 9:2-3, 6-7 NLT

Oh how we long for PEACE — especially as our world is riddled with wars, violence, hatred, racism, suffering of all kinds. And hasn’t it always been so? This is nothing unusual in this fallen world.

The Scriptures above state our only answer — the Prince of PEACE Himself, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Shortly before His death on the Cross, our Prince of PEACE Himself both warned and encouraged His followers:

“I have told you these things, so that in ME you may have PEACE. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NLT

We have HIM, our Emmanuel. So we have deep, inner PEACE of soul and spirit as we depend on HIM — even if our world is falling apart around us.
