Grace upon Grace ... Bread upon Bread

I love my word for the year, daily bread. (You can read the story behind it here)But it wasn't always so. In fact, would you believe that after embracing it as perfect for the stress I was feeling, I began to feel cheated?

Cheated? How could that be? Well, you may remember my word for 2016, unfolding fullness. When I started comparing them, I began feeling like 2016 was about abundance and now 2017 would be about scarcity ... fullness compared to bread for one day.

But how wrong I was!

As I began to talk to the Lord about this "feeling cheated," He reminded me of a verse that resolved it all. In my Bible it reads,

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
John 1:16 ESV

The Lord basically said to my heart and mind,

Jan, you will have the portion of my fullness that you need as each day unfolds. You will have all of Me but within the particular circumstances in which you find yourself day by day.

And then I read it in another version that amplified the meaning of the original language,

Out of his fullness [unfolding fullness] we have all received grace in place of grace already given [bread for the day, then the next, then the next].
John 1:16 NIV

Thank you, Lord, that your Fullness is always and forever our Resource, because YOU are our Resource. You are the Fullness of the Godhead in human form; You are the Bread of Life ... MY  Bread for MY life, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day ... my Daily Bread! Glory!
