"It's crowded in there!"

The Lord gave me a “heads up” the other day. A desire filled my heart to speak with my longtime teacher, mentor, and friend, who has been in a retirement community in another state for many years now. And would you believe he called me the very next day.

In the midst of our conversation, he said with a shy little laugh, “You may think this is silly, but I thought to myself, ‘It’s crowded in there!’ ”

No, he wasn’t referring to his physical residence in the retirement community. You see, my brother in the Lord, who has known and taught the word of God for decades, has been coming into a deeper and richer experience of those treasured truths he has known and cherished for so long. And it is capturing this heart and mind.

This time the truth he was marveling at was the amazing, breathtaking, overwhelmingly glorious fact that the Triune God lives within us.

“Where is He? It must be crowded in there!”

I shared in his delight as the thought of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, taking up residence within our spirits, washed over us and our conversation.

We can know all the verses, and even teach them to others. And it is wonderful and necessary for our minds to be steeped in the truth. But it isn’t until our hearts are ravished by the Holy Spirit that we can experience the amazement and depth of it all.

And this is what was going on in our hearts and minds during that sweet conversation just the other day.

What about you, dear sibling in the Lord? Have you allowed your heart to be ravished with the realization that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…the Triune God of the universe … dwells in little ole you!

No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God [Father] abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
1 John 4:12-13 NASB

. . .  to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ [Son} in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27 NASB

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ [Son] is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?
2 Corinthians 13:5 NASB

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19 NASB

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God [Spirit] dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
If Christ [Son] is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of
Him who raised Jesus from the dead [Father] dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:9-11 NASB

And YES, “it must be crowded in there.” The fullness of God lives in you and me because of our union with Christ. It’s a miracle!

For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. Colossians 2:9-10 ESV

Think about that!
Amen.
