Knowing the God Who LOVES You

We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us.
1 John 4:16a NASB

Did you know. . .

  • the most important thing about you is what you think about God?

  • the next most important thing about you is what you believe He thinks about you?

These are basic to who you think YOU are. And they will also influence how you think and live your life.

And in reality, what you believe about God and yourself in relationship to Him are based either on God’s truth or on lies instigated by the enemy of your soul. Those lies are most often perpetrated by significant people in your life who have been believing and living by these same lies for themselves — parents, family members, friends and “enemies,” the “culture,” and even religious leaders.

And I have taken these truths to heart more and more as grandchildren have come along.

  • What will they think about God?

  • And what will they think about what God thinks about them?

Years ago at a teacher conference, I found a treasure of a children’s book called God Says I AM: What God tells us about Himself in the Bible – from A to Z. This wonderful book goes through the whole alphabet describing who God is.  I gave this sweet book to two of my grandsons who had trusted in the Lord Jesus for salvation…to commemorate that glorious day that they were born into God’s family. And now over the years, this precious book has made it’s way into the minds and hearts of each of their siblings.

My then five-year old grandson Kaden was the first to read through with me. I challenged him to try to learn all the descriptions of God in the I AM book.  We worked on it together, and every time I visited, we practiced.  But one of the times together was especially precious.  After Kaden & I sat together seeing how much we could remember, I went back through quickly repeating all of the descriptions while looking at the stunning artwork:

God says I AM – the Artist, the Builder, the Creator, the Designer, Everywhere, your Father, Good, the Healer; I do the Impossible; the Joy-giver, King of kings, Love, a Mystery, Never-ending, the Only One, Power; I Quiet the storms; Real, your Savior, Trustworthy, Unfailing, Voice, Wisdom; fiX your eyes on heaven; I want to know You; the A to Z!

Then I almost breathlessly ended with,

“And all of that is what God says He Is!”

Kaden looked up at me and said with warmth and amazement,

“WOW!”

That’s right, Kaden…WOW!
This is your God who made you and who LOVES you!

And this amazing God is the One who LOVES me!

Ands He LOVES you too, my dear reader!

Do you know Him. . . and do you know that He LOVES you too?

See how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God;
and in fact we are!

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
