[New Post] Mottos and Mantras: Words of Wisdom Over the Years

This past winter, I spent almost three months hibernating in-between bouts of pneumonia. Lots of time to clean out my extras and get rid of many “unnessaries.”

In the course of it all, I pulled out an over-large storage container filled with my old notebook-journals. They date back from the 1970’s to the present. These gems and mundane thoughts are from years of recording into whatever notebook was at hand at the time.

As the years went by, my thoughts took various forms — written out prayers, sentences, paragraphs, lists, anxst, complaints, praises, copied scripture, etc.

Early in my writing, I kept a list of mottos. If I remember correctly, I had a page full. But there are just two such gems that I have quoted repeatedly over the years. And I live by them faithfully, often sharing them whenever I can.

Here they are. They are yours for free … but I would LOVE if you would share one or two of your own in the comments below.

  1. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
I can’t tell you how many times this has turned out to be extremely beneficial, even when it seemed the answer would be NO, for sure.
Remember, you have nothing to lose. It doesn’t hurt to ask. And the answer may actually be YES!

  2. Something is better than nothing.
This really helps if you are a perfectionist like I used to be.
Perfectionists say it has to be all or nothing. That’s a hard and unrealistic way to live.
In fact, in my first book, which is a Bible study book, I told my readers that one way to study was just to answer questions and look up Scriptures that “jump out” at them. This was to keep them from giving up too soon.
Because truly something IS better than nothing!

Next time, I will begin to share some of my current and past “mantras.” These will have a more spiritual content. Spoken to me in some way by my Abba Father God, they inform my daily life. So they are both spiritual and practical indeed.

See you then.

But please SHARE YOUR OWN FAVORITE MOTTO OR MANTRA.

Thank you. We can learn from each other.
