Receiving My WORD in my Loneliness -- FRIEND!

In the early morning hours of this New Year, in the throes of my loneliness, I received the WORD that has been simmering deep in my soul, warming my heart for days, weeks — no months, even years —- FRIEND!

I am a friend of God, but more importantly…HE is MY Friend!

I had been so convinced my word for this year was “Light/Revelation.” But then I remembered that this warming thought of Friendship with God was grabbing me everywhere and at all times. His Whispers have followed me for years:

We go way back, Jan…
You’re my girl! Well done…
But you have ME…

Words repeatedly whispered to my soul.

So being God’s friend actually includes revelation and light. I have loved this verse for decades:

Friendship with the LORD is reserved for those who fear [respect] Him.
With them He shares the secrets
[mysteries] of His covenant.
Psalm 25:14 NLT1995

And then these heart-grabbing words from my Friend Jesus:

I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves.
Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.
John 15:15 NLT

I love this thought:

When you are close friends with someone, you both feel free to share deeply the secrets / mystery of who you are.

And this is what I have with God … because we are Friends.
