Summer Surprise: Ocean Sunrises

The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
    The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
    night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
    their voice is never heard.[a]
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
    and their words to all the world.

God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
    It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens
    and follows its course to the other end.
    Nothing can hide from its heat.
Psalm 19:1-5 NLT

In our current Family Trip to the Jersey Shore in July 2025, I saw seven days of sunrises.
I love getting up at 4:30am to view the big event over the ocean on the East Coast. Nothing ordinary about these sunrises. Each one is unique. And each communicates “Glory.”

1. I almost didn’t get up for this one —
fog forecasted ….but still “beautiful in its obscurity, its silver-ness.”

2. Who knew? Off to the north…it was there and I hadn’t recognized it.
I was looking straight east, and thought the light to the NE was a lit-up boat.
But it was the sun, the “Glory,” beginning to appear. At first, shining on the water.

3. The morning after the storm … an amazing unfolding.

4. At first the colors, and then just the shining

7. Last sunrise of the trip —
the heavens really do proclaim the glory of God!

He is in every one of our sunrises … and our days.
Look closely…
GLORY!

REFELCTION:
Go back through each of the comments with the photos of sunrises. Can you relate them to your walk with God? For example: Is He sometimes obscure and seems hidden to you? Are you often left waiting to experience His presence…but then, wow? You get the idea.

Now this amazing SONG:
